John G Lock
John leads the Cancer Systems Microscopy Lab at the University of New South Wales. Our team is focused on developing and deploying imaging-based single-cell systems biology to improve cancer outcomes by advancing: 1) Precision Diagnostics; using a unique multiplexed imaging approach to interrogate liquid biopsy-derived circulating tumour cells; 2) Fundamental Biolgoy; by deeply interrogating molecular and cell phenotypic dynamics during fundamental processes including EMT / EndMT, and; 3) AI Utilisation; by building new AI approaches to augment and integrate information derived from cellular imaging. This multidisciplinary approach builds on my pioneering role at the Karolinska Institute leading the conceptualisation, development and application of Systems Microscopy to replicate the scalability and quantitative rigour of other single-cell systems biology (‘Omics’) techniques whilst uniquely incorporating the dimensions of space and time into analyses of molecular function, cellular regulation and disease. My expertise thus span cancer cell biology, experimental automation, imaging, image analysis, biostatistics, machine & deep learning and data visualisation.
