Wai Kit (Leo) Lam Hunter Cell Biology Meeting 2025

Wai Kit (Leo) Lam

Leo is an expert in mitophagy and Parkinson's Disease (PD). His specialised skill sets include fixed and live cells imaging, transmission electron microscopy, focused ion beam scanning electron microscopy with correlative light electron microscopy. His mission is to understand how damaged mitochondria get recognised and eliminated by PINK1/Parkin mitophagy in neurons. He completed my PhD in biochemistry and cell biology in Monash University in 2020 and started working as postdoctoral researcher in Lazarou Lab in late 2020. He collaborates broadly to tackle challenging questions, including collaboration with the team in University of California, Berkeley, University of Vienna and University of Pennsylvania. His goal is to understand how mitophagy machinery maintains neuronal health and guide development of mitophagy modulators as PD therapeutics.
